Areas of Interest

The Miller Manhattan Foundation supports nonprofit organizations and charitable initiatives across a range of fields, including education; health and medicine; the arts and culture; historic preservation, heritage, and the humanities; environmental conservation; and sustainable community development.

The Foundation may also support organizations addressing other pressing social and community needs consistent with its charitable mission. 

Grantmaking Focus

The Miller Manhattan Foundation is a family-founded public charity whose grantmaking reflects places, institutions, and charitable causes that have been meaningful to generations of the Miller family.

Grant recipients are generally located in geographic areas with which the Foundation has longstanding historical, civic, or community connections. In evaluating potential grantees, the Foundation considers an organization’s charitable impact, effectiveness, leadership, financial stewardship, and alignment with the Foundation’s mission.

The Foundation’s directors may identify prospective grantees based on their knowledge of community needs and nonprofit organizations. All grants are reviewed and approved based on their alignment with the Foundation’s charitable mission and the potential for meaningful public benefit.
